Transact is a management and consulting firm with expertise and experience in commercial, operations, regulatory and project management. We have also established a climate change advisory capability to assist our clients to navigate risks and to take advantage of opportunities in this area.
Over the past four years Transact has accumulated a skilled and experienced team of professionals. We have consulted on and managed a variety of successful projects and ventures, increasing the value of our clients' businesses and assisting the industries in which they operate to evolve.
In particular, we are very proud to have managed the implementation of open access to the Maui pipeline for and on behalf of its owners, Shell, OMV and Todd Energy. Maui Pipeline is New Zealand's largest gas transmission pipeline, transporting 95% of New Zealand's gas supply. The open access regime, required by Government policy, has created new markets, encouraged direct foreign investment, increased security of energy supply and increased competition for the benefit of the wider New Zealand economy.
As part of the successful implementation of open access, Transact designed and built an entirely new business for Shell and its partners. This included designing, developing and implementing commercial and governance structures, accounting and financial systems, business processes, risk management systems, and customer and supplier contractual arrangements.
Transact is currently contracted by Shell and its partners to manage the Maui pipeline business on their behalf. In performing this role we draw on a wide variety of our commercial and business skills, including:
Transact is also assisting the New Zealand gas industry regulator to develop and integrate a gas wholesale trading market in New Zealand. Once again, we are proud to be contributing to a project that will further evolve the New Zealand gas market.
Transact's expertise and experience in relevant fields has enabled it to establish a Climate Change Advisory team that services companies either directly or indirectly affected by the New Zealand Emission Trading Scheme (NZ ETS). Transact has developed models that quantify a company's obligations as Government decisions concerning the scheme crystallise. Transact is assisting businesses to establish climate change based strategies that convey competitive advantage. Transact is working closely with the New Zealand Ministry of Economic Development, New Zealand Treasury Department and the New Zealand Stock Exchange on NZ ETS related objectives. Transact is also in discussion with pacific island governments of Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, and Tuvalu, with regard to the establishment of Kyoto Protocol recognised Clear Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in the pacific, further extending Transact's global presence.
Other projects we have had a hand in include developing integrated accounting and economic models for business restructure and asset divestment; evaluating oil and gas field assets for investment and capital allocation purposes; evaluating businesses and assets for international taxation purposes; re-engineering financial control systems; and developing and implementing web-enabled training management systems.
Transact believe that innovation and new ways of thinking in business stem from creativity and passion. To foster innovation, Transact draws inspiration from works of art. Transact would like to thank Emma Wright Art for authorising Transact to the use her art (some of which is purchased by Transact) for branding purposes.
