For the fifth year in a row, the Department of Conservation (DOC) in conjunction with ex-whalers and private sponsors conducted a four week survey of whales in Cook Strait during June and July 2008. The project gives insights into the present status and level of recovery of humpback whales in New Zealand waters and provides a baseline for future comparisons. It also sheds light on the migratory pathways and destinations of whales passing through our waters. This information will be used for management of these animals, including to further the protection of whales in the South Pacific.

Good fortune, safe passage

"Good fortune, safe passage"

It is a poetic way to express Transacts sentiment that businesses can be concerned with both doing well (having good fortune) and well doing (protecting the planet and its ecosystems for future generations).
